Did Mitt Romney just say “your poor” like he has no responsibility for anyone below the poverty line?
I mean, I guess he really thinks that, but WTF, Mittens?

CISPA - ACTA & PIPA are back!
New York, 20th April 2012
ACTA & PIPA are back in a new form called CISPA - it’s moving through the Congress right now and would allow prosecutors to disregard or change any existing law concerning internet safety and protection.
Here is a helpful link explaining the dangers of CISPA.

US downgraded again!
New York - 19th, April 2012
Fun Fact I: The US was downgraded again today from AA+ to AA by the Rating Firm Egan-Jones - the same firm that was also the first to downgrade the US back in Juli 2011, shortly before Standard&Poor’s did the same. Fun Fact II: None of the large media outlets bothered to even report this. Is that because we don’t really care about our rating anymore...

The Buffett Rule is supported by 72% of Americans,... →
think-progress:
and 2% of GOP Senators.
Even though the rule received majority approval in the Senate, Republicans had to show just how out of touch they are, filibustering it.

Republican War on Women & Freedom
New York. 04/17/2012
Republicans want to regulate women’s access to contraception and want to deny them their right to have abortions. Republicans would love to impose even stricter regulations on immigrants (illegal or not), they want to restrict our civil liberties even further, all in the name of the war against terror.
The only aspect of life they really want to deregulate is everything...

While money rules, there can be no change
New York, 16/April/2012
The so-called “Buffett Rule,” which would close loopholes and tax the super-wealthy on a fairer basis than is true right now was, once again, struck down in the Senate by Republican filibustering.
The Rachel Maddow Show did an excellent reporting on this issue tonight. They made the claim that this is not just about the fairer taxation of rich (which will...

US: Women's rights in 2012
13th, April 2012
Are we really talking about women’s right to equal pay, their access to contraception and basic health care and whether they can be discriminated against at work as issues that have to be discussed?! I though the year was 2012 and not 1860.

KONY 2012 - Awareness yes, blind following no!
Concerning the Kony 2012 issue: Raising awareness about this situation is a great thing but people need to have a closer look into “Invisible Children” and the stuff they spend their money on + what they suposse we should do. Supporting the Ugandan army is certainly not the solution since they are almost as bad as Kony himself + Kony doesn’t even operate in Uganda anymore since...

Gingrich vs. Romney
Is that really what it has come to? We can choose between a man who is the personification of immorality, dishonesty and hypocrisy and someone whose only consistency is his hair?

Mitt Romney on Income Equality
12. January, 2012
Mr. Romney said in a interview yesterday that the discussion about income equality is driven by envy. Oh so the poor are simply envy! You mean the people who work up to 80 hours a week and still barely live above the poverty line? The people who have three separate jobs and still don’t earn as much in a year as some CEO’s in a day? You mean the people who...

No More Constitutional Protection for Ourselves
13th, December, 2011
“I consider [trial by jury] as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution.” - Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Paine Our constitution was pooped on today by our lawmakers. They now officially have the right to detain each and every one of us without trial and charge for however long they...

The Difference between FOX and MSNBC
12th, December, 2011
You know what in fact differentiates FOX and MSNBC? MSNBC clearly has a liberal bias but they follow the ethics of real journalism, namely doing some actual research, presenting both sides, let both sides make their comments and only present things as facts when they are indeed facts and when they have proof for it.
FOX disregards all of that if it serves their purpose to...

Flip-flopping now desirable?
Isn’t it sad that we now define “electability” in terms of the ability of a candidate to change his position to fit ours? We basically prefer inconsistency over reliability as long as it serves our interests.

Republicans entrapped in a FOX News bubble?
I had a heated argument with a good friend of mine who happens to be a Republican. The subject doesn’t matter but what I want to say is that, I laid out quotes, sources, articles and legal analysis to support my point and all that came from him was that “most Americans support his view.” Republicans nowadays are too often enclosed within their right-wing, populist rhetoric,...

The problem is not that a private company paid a lot of money to a private employee of theirs - that’s their right to do even though its pretty crazy.
The real problem is that those are the people and companies we cannot tax more under the GOP doctrine since they are “job creators”. But instead of creating jobs they pay their money to people who haven’t done anything...

The GOP is on the wrong track
As seen on Huffington Post, 27th October, 2011. Original Article: See ‘Source’ below.
There is something wrong with the current GOP setup. I consider myself a liberal but in my opinion that has nothing to do with being able to respect other opinions or different political ideologies. I have no problem with clearly stating my respect for the GOP or one of its candidates even if I...

On the 15th of February, approximately 200 protesters gathered, inspired by successful revolts in Tunisia and Egypt, to express their negative feelings toward the Lybian government and especially it’s leader Muammar al-Gaddafi. Today (21st of February) it seems like the whole country is standing up against a regime that was in control of the country for more than 41 years!
Gaddafi clearly...
Egypt - Mubarak steps down; now what?
It took Tunisia approximately a month to overcome a regime that was in charge for 23 years. In comparison it took Egypt 18 days to get rid of a regime that lasted for more than 30 years.
After the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down today and handed his powers over to the military, the question remains what will happen next.
Today people are laughing, celebrating and dancing in the...
